Three for the Future

We have chose a three drivers, who we think are the big stars of the future.

Jaime Alguersuari- Scuderia Toro Rosso-Ferrari
2010 Championship Position: 19th
Best Finish (2010): 9th (x2)

A suprise choice you probably think, he doesn't get much notice but Jaime is developing into a better F1 driver after every race. He came into F1 after replacing out of favour French man Sebastien Bourdais. He failed to impress people after making many mistakes in his few races in 2009. After securing his 2010 seat, Jaime came back a different man, In Australia, he battled Mercedes and seven time world champion to tenth place which eventually Jaime lost. But Alguersuari said after, it taught him how to look after his tyres and his overtaking skills must of improved. Possibly his best race performance of the season at Sepang, saw him finish 9th, most notably doing some great overtakes past Nico Hulkenburg and Vitaly Petrov. Many thought now he was becoming the real-deal. At his home race, he scored a point after finishing 10th place, is position could of been higher, but he received a driver-through penalty for colliding with back-marker Karun Chandhok which forced the Indian to retire. He did not score  again until the final race of the season, many people questions his mental toughness. One thing he did do which was he consistently beat more experienced team-mate Sebastien Buemi. Another solid performance by Jaime, finishing 9th place after keeping Ferrari driver Felipe Massa behind him for majority of the race. If he keeps his drive at Toro Rosso for 2011 he will be able to show if he is good enough to step up and take a drive at Red Bull alongside Sebastian Vettel.

Kamui Kobayashi- Sauber-Ferrari
2010 Championship Position: 12th
Best Finish (2010): 6th (x1)

One of the big stars of the future, after taking over from Timo Glock at Toyota for the remaining two races of the 2009 campaign, many people expected Kamui to have a very strong full season in Formula One. Four consecutive retirements saw many people think 'where is the Kobayashi of 2009 gone?' Sauber's car reliability let the team down, with regular retirments, things changed and so did Kamui's performance levels, first point at Turkey and then a clever strategy saw him stay on the prime tyres for majority of the race in Valencia and change to fresh tyres when everyone else on used ones. His best finish of the season came at Silverstone finishing 6th, with a few front runners down the field (Alonso, Massa and Vettel). He took advantage of this opportunity. He went on too score points many more times. Most notably his performance at his home race at Suzuka, showing some of best overtaking skills seen in a while many putting him on the level with Lewis Hamilton (overtaking wise). For 2011, he will driving at Sauber alongside rookie Sergio Perez as the team's main number one driver, he will have to lead the team and try to beat the likes of Toro Rosso, Williams and Force India. Kamui is one of the stars of the future, he has great race pace and great overtaking ability. Looking over his qualifying performances, they are not the greatest, if Kobayashi improves on that he will surely be fighting for regular points finishes. Like Alguersuari, Kamui has a possible big drive in 2012, Felipe Massa will probably get the boot unless he beats teammate Alonso, so there is a seat there. Why Kobayashi? Sauber and Ferrari have connections (engines), Massa started off at Sauber and then went on to drive for Ferrari, so that's a real possibility. But it depends on how he does next year, if he improves enough to be the next big star.

Nico Hulkenburg- Williams-Cosworth
2010 Championship Position: 14th
Best Finish (2010): 6th (x1)

Many expected a lot from the young German, who has a similar record to 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton. He scored his first points at Malaysia after qualifying a brilliant fifth place and finishing tenth. Six races down the line he scored again at Silverstone where Williams seemed to find its feet bringing more and more upgrades to the FW32. He went on to score more points at Hungary where he secured 6th (his best finish to date) and Italy keeping Mark Webber behind him for majority of the race. At Brazil he then went on to score his first pole position as the track was drying out quickly also he was one of the first to change from the intermediates to the soft slicks. He finished 8th that race with the front runners passing him at the first third of the race. Overall a pretty solid year for a rookie didn't make mistakes too often and showed good pace. Seemed to get the better of teammate Rubens Barrichello which boosted the German's confidence for sure. Many were upset how he wasn't retained by Williams for the 2011 season, mainly because he had not as much sponsorship as Pastor Maldonado. If he secures a drive as a test drive or a full drive, he will definantly be one to watch.

We chose three, but obviously there are more depending on your different views, Who do you think?
